General Mcchrystal Displayed Massive Blunders: White House
General Stanley McChrystal, The US commander in Afghanistan displayed massive blunders in his comments to a magazine, the White House alleged Tuesday, rebuffing to rule out that he may be fired.
“Without a doubt, General McChrystal, as Secretary Gates has said, has made an enormous mistake,” Robert Gibbs, White House spokesperson supposed, adding President Barack Obama had convened the general for meeting on Wednesday.
Gibbs would not declare whether McChrystal would be fired, but said “all options are on the table.”
A silhouette in Rolling Stone Magazine cited McChrystal’s aides derisive Vice President Joe Biden and one supposed the general was “disappointed” after his first Oval Office meeting with Obama.”
McChrystal was cited as telling he considered “betrayed” by US diplomat to Afghanistan Karl Eikenberry, a ex- military chief there, for challenging his policy in a note later disclosed to the media.
Gibbs held Obama studied the Rolling Stone critique late Monday. “He was angry.”
Asked whether the persona clashes would have a unconstructive impact on strategy, Gibbs held, “The president doesn’t believe that personalities, whatever your disagreements are, or whatever your disagreements were, should distract from the strategy to get Afghanistan right.”
