Cyclone 1100KM South-Southwest Of Karachi

The uproar in Central Arabian Sea since Monday has extended into a Tropical Cyclone and is currently positioned at almost 1100 Km south-southwest of Karachi.

Tropical Cyclone is anticipated to shift firstly in north-westerly/northerly course within next 24 hours. Subsequently, it is possible to re-curve in north-easterly track towards coastal parts of Indian Gujrat and Sindh Coast, Dr. Qamaruzzaman Chaudhry , Director General Pakistan Meteorological Department informed on Tuesday.

Tropical Cyclone is estimated to more deepen into a Severe Tropical Cyclone after crossing 20N (on Thursday), he affirmed.

On the basis of possible course and expected strength of Tropical Cyclone, prevalent rain with sprinkled weighty fall come with blustery winds (60-80 knots) is predictable along Sindh-Makran coastline from Thursday evening to Saturday.

Somewhat extensive heavy falls with brawny really blowing winds (80-100 knots) are likely over Lower Sindh including District Thatta, Badin, Umar Kot, Tharparkar, southern parts of Hyderabad & Mirpurkhas Districts on Friday, Saturday. Karachi is also expected to receive thundershowers along with strapping dust tempest during the period.

Due to this Cyclone, the sea conditions are going to be Rough to Very Rough in next 48 hrs, and High tides are also expected to develop near Sindh-Makran coast on Friday, Saturday.

Tropical Cyclone Warning Centre of Pakistan Meteorological Department cautioned fishermen of Sindh and Balochistan who are in Open Ocean should return to the coastline before Wednesday evening. All fishermen are recommended not to risk in open sea from Thursday to Saturday.
