Vishal & Vishal sticks together with Shahid & Shahid

Kaminey, the movie which features Shahid Kapoor in the twofold part of Charlie and Guddu, also sees another dual role of kinds (at least as a namesake) in the team details.  Whereas Vishal Bhardwaj is the director and composer of the movie,  Vishal Dadlani (of Vishal-Shekhar duo) has been tied in to sing the key song in the movie. The figure in question is (an amusingly titled) ‘Tan Tana’ that observes Vishal Dadlani bending his vocal chords.

Says Vishal who is keen on dabble in sporadic singing as well and spaced out from singing in his own movies has teamed up with Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy and Pritam in the precedent, “Seriously, it’s a big honor to be working with Vishal Bhardwaj. I respect him as a musician. He has done some great work in the past and to be singing for a song composed by him was an exciting opportunity.” There is a tale that goes behind how Vishal Dadlani was twined into sing for Kaminey. It seems that the song was already traced and Vishal was sent crosswise the CD to listen to it once. So overwhelmed was Vishal with the tone in the song that he instantaneously called up Vishal Bhardwaj and enquired about the singer.

“To my utter surprise, I was informed that Vishal Bhardwaj had himself sung the song. He had done such a brilliant job that I tried persuading him to retain the voice for the final cut as well. However, he wasn’t willing to do so and wanted another voice for the song. I am happy that he considered me for the song”, says Vishal Dadlani who has been well-known as singer of famous songs including, ‘Jaane Kyun’ and ‘Khabar Nahi’ (Dostana), title song (Krazzy 4), ‘Jame Raho’ (Taare Zameen Par) and ‘Tashan Mein’ (Tashan). With ‘Tan Tana’ eye-catching a high-quality retort as it plays along with the melodramatic preview of Kaminey, Vishal Dadlani is confident that it would be repayment time soon for Vishal Bhardwaj.

“I made a deal with him when I consented to sing ‘Tan Tana’”, smiles Vishal Dadlani, “I told him that I would do the song only on one condition that he would have to sing a song for us when we make a tune worthwhile enough for him. He has agreed to oblige so we should see collaboration between Vishal Bhardwaj and Vishal-Shekhar soon.” Also featuring the tone of Sukhwinder Singh, ‘Tan Tana’ is shot on Charlie and Guddu, the two characters that are acted by Shahid Kapoor. With Priyanka Chopra as the leading bollywood actress, Kaminey is going to be released on 5th June.
