Dennis Hopper’s Remarkable Movies
Here are a number of of the most unforgettable movies starring or produced by Hollywood connoisseur Dennis Hopper, who died on Saturday after a fight with prostate cancer at the age of 74.
“Rebel Without a Cause” (1955) – Hopper’s first gigantic character, playing squad of criminals Goon alongside his adviser, James Dean. Both Hopper and the film’s executive, Nicholas Ray, seemingly had affairs with 16-year-old co-star Natalie Wood during manufacture.
“Giant” (1956) – The epic story of a rich Texas family in which Hopper performed with Dean, Elizabeth Taylor, Rock Hudson and Sal Mineo.
“Easy Rider” (1969) – Hopper starred in and directed Hollywood’s first main study of the hippie traditions. He noted down the script with his co-star Peter Fonda, with the couple playing pot-smoking bikers on a cross-country journey.
“The Last Movie” (1971) – regardless of winning a award at the Venice Film Festival, Hopper’s pet venture was a bombard and spoiled his career for some years. Hopper believed the film the story of the impact a Hollywood film corporation has on the residents of a Peruvian village — was filmed during “one long sex and drug orgy.”
“Apocalypse Now” (1979) – Hopper performed a crazy photojournalist in Francis Ford Coppola’s tormenting Vietnam War drama.
“Blue Velvet” (1986) – Hopper measured his sinister role in David Lynch’s surrealistic movie noir to be the finest acting presentation of his occupation. He played Frank Booth, a small-town rapist and sadist who gasps aerosol gas through a medical facade.
“Hoosiers” (1986) – Hopper received an Oscar selection for his sustaining twist as an alcoholic high-school basketball trainer.
“Colors” (1988) – Hopper’s fourth directing attempt, Sean Penn and Robert Duvall starred as L.A. cops battling the city’s bunch of criminals.
“Speed” (1994) – In a recognizable role as a unbalanced scoundrel, Hopper played a bomber who has fixed a urban bus to blow up if its pace falls below 50 miles per hour (80 kph). Keanu Reeves and Sandra Bullock put aside the day in the international collision.
“Palermo Shooting” (2008) – Hopper performed Death in Wim Wenders’ extensively scoffed at drama, which was not released in the United States. His top line: “I’m tired of playing the bad guy.”
