Google Makes Nearly 5 Million Lost Hours Of Productivity With Pac-Man
This weekend, Google celebrated the 30th anniversary of famous Pacman game, which was a success in the 80s. To commemorate the anniversary, the famous search engine on your website a Doodle in which you could play the legendary Pac. Now, a study says that this idea has made the world media companies lost $ 120 million in hours of productivity.
“We are overwhelmed, but not surprised by the success of our doodle the 30th anniversary of Pac-Man”Said the head of the search engine marketing, Marissa Mayer, the Google corporate blog.
But this enthusiasm is not shared by the world media business. A study by Rescue Times says that the companies, about half the world, may have lost around 120 million dollars (More than 97 million euros) for the distraction that the legendary game has caused in their workers.
The study took a random set of 11,000 users who spent about 3 million seconds to Google on 21 May, when he hung up the doodle.
Rescue Time believes that each user was 36 seconds more, on average, on Google. In this way, the finder Pacman 4’81 has cost millions of hours of work, equivalent to 549 years media companies worldwide, which translates to 120.483 million dollars, if the average Google user charges 25 U.S. dollars an hour.
For the same cost, it could recruit all 19,835 employees of Google, Larry and Sergey included, and recruited them for six weeks to carry out any project imaginable. BQM
